Android 與 iPhone 網絡短訊 – Ping Chat! 每年可以省下720元
近年一向使用 Android 手機，既然 Gtalk, Gmail 不斷在線，認為不需要其他通訊工具。不過近來 iPhone 3/4 用家增加了，一般不是推友的話，在平台上便缺乏了某種交流，為了找一個共同點，安裝了 Ping Chat!
這個 Ping Chat! 原本是 iPhone 上的簡訊軟體，後來追加了Android 版本，在 iPhone 和 Android 之間可以互傳發送訊息，保留了 SMS 的界面和傳送模式，同時亦省下手機供應商收取的跨台 SMS 費用，所以顯出了 PingChat! 的存生性，至少在 Android 和 iPhone 之間，有一樣小東西能夠掛鉤。
我認為 Ping Chat! 最好是用來 ” Group Chat “，把幾個聯絡人加入同一個對話中，訊息或回覆一次過發送，也可以傳送連結、圖片甚至影片等，非常方便。Ping Chat! 跟 SMS 皆是閒餘對話用，不需要理會對方是否 Online 在線，若是有緊要事還是致電給對方吧。不過也要注意，兩台手機不能共享一個 Ping Chat! 戶口，必須先行登出 (Unregister)，或者註冊 ( Register) 另外多一個戶口名稱才能使用。
究竟用 Ping Chat! 可以省下多少錢？可以看看香港其中三家電訊公司在 SMS ，特別是跨網短訊所收取的費用 ( 只是一般比較，沒有考慮額外的短訊套餐 )：
以每月平均 100個 Ping Chat! 代替跨網短訊來說，每年可以省下 $100x 12x 0.6 =$720
當然這個是略帶市場推廣性質的口吻，因為在帶 data 的 Smartphone 上通訊方法層出不窮，掘指一數還可以列出 SMS, MMS, Email, Gtalk, MSN, QQ, Twitter, Facebook, Skype, WhatsApp 等。
講起短訊來，香港電訊管理局其實一路以來，有把香港特別日子的短訊數量作出統計，當中一份報告指出，單是農曆年初一當天所收發的短訊量，由 2006 年之2仟3佰萬，至今年 2010 已經增加到 6仟5佰萬個短訊了。可見近幾年間，手機短訊息如洪水氾濫般增長起來。
how do you compare this Ping Chat with Whatsapp?
most of my friends are using iPhone and they told me they have been using Whatsapp for some time already and they are too lazy to switch. Any critical reasons I can tell them to “convert” to PingChat?

Indeed there is no critical reason to force your iPhone friends to use PingChat! It is just for fun since there are still many ways to communicate with you. PingChat! and Whatsapp are quite similar for messages exchange but the main difference is the price.

pingchat! : you have to add contact 1 by 1 with their pingID
whatsapp: app will automatically search your contact list and see who are using whatsapp.
so i think pingchat! have to enhance itself on this or whatsapp will still own the market
Whatsapp looks great. Besides, I think PingChat! keeps the contact list within my Google contacts. Since I have registered my first PingChat! ID in Nexus One, when I registered another PingChat! ID on my X10 mini pro in China, my N1’s PingChat! contact list appears on X10 mini pro automatically.
我發現我的 PingChat 會自己加人在 friend list, 是從通訊錄中加入 PingChat 用家，我懷疑當用家以手機號碼去登記的話，Pingchat 便可以幫你找出來。

老實地說，我刻意地不使用 PingChat, Whatsapp 了，因為太多呢類 Apps，有些朋友把基本的電話及Email都不利用，溝通變得鬆散了
